Family: Married Derek in 1973 has 3 adult children,
2 sons David and Lee and 1 daughter Ellen and 4 granddaughters.
Sporting background: Kay’s sporting interests
were mainly in athletics, which enabled her to win the Junior,
Middle and Senior Victrix Ludorum Trophies whilst at secondary
school. She also represented her school in rounders, hockey and
netball. She became involved in the local swimming club in 1981
and subsequently qualified as a Swimming Teacher/Coach and swimming
official - Timekeeper, Judge and Starter. She was one of
the coaches to the Isle of Man Swim Team from 1988 to 2002 when
she retired as National Coach following the 2002 Commonwealth
Games in Manchester. She continues to be involved in swimming
technique coaching.
Profession: General Secretary of the IGA. Kay
was appointed as Assistant to the General Secretary in September
1998 and as the General Secretary on 28th October 2000.
Hobbies besides sport: Granddaughters, reading
and walking.
IGA History: Kay has attended every Games with the exception
of the Guernsey Games in 1987. She officiated at the swimming in
1985 and attended the Games from 1989 to 2001 as a Swim Team coach to the
Isle of Man Swim Team. She was Acting IGA General Secretary at the Gotland
Games in 1999 and General Secretary at the 2001, 2003 and 2005 Games.
