Dick Ekstrom was Team Manager for Aland in 1985 (Isle of Man) and elected to the Executive Committee at the first business meeting held at the end of the Games.   Re-elected in 1987 (Guernsey), became Vice-Chairman in 1989 (Faroes). Chairman of the superb Organising Committee in his native Aland for the 1991 Games, strongly emphasising the ‘friendly’ nature of the Games.  Following the very successful Games he was elected Chairman of the IGA Executive Committee serving from 1991 – 1995.  An Honorary Life Membership was bestowed on him for his outstanding contribution to the IIGA 1985 – 1995.
