CHAIRMAN IMPRESSED WITH PROGRESS IN RHODES

IGA Chairman, Bo Frykenstam, has praised the progress made in Rhodes towards its staging of the 2007 NatWest Island Games.

Speaking after the recent executive committee meeting held in the Greek Island Mr. Frykenstam said the EC was impressed by the progress Rhodes had made in the previous 18 months. The ten municipalities which govern the Island have all pledged their financial commitment and the construction of new, or updated, facilities were well on course.

At the conclusion of the executive meeting, the Chairman gave a vote of thanks to the Mayor of Rhodes and its Island Games Association as well as the 2007 Organising Committee for their hospitality and support.

· The Island Games Association is hoping to be more proactive in its search for future member islands. This is one result of the decision by NatWest to extend its sponsorship agreement until 2007. The extended sponsorship agreement also enables the EC to be more proactive in assisting member islands considering a bid to host the games.
